Närebo Farm is only 4 km from the centre of Lidköping, near the road to Läckö Castle.
Närebo has been in the possession of the Carlander family since 1946. Vegetablegrowing, particularly cucumbers, began in 1981. Over the years the area under cultivation has grown and more products have been added. Marrows, squash, dill, peas, onions, garlic, melon, raspberries and, of course, cucumbers, which have become our speciality. We produce various different cucumber preserves that form part of our year´s range.

A sales area was prepared in the oldest building on the farm, the storehouse, many years ago. With an expanded range of products and a widening clientele the shop has gradually become an increasingly important part of the company.

By 2004 we were ready to expand. We formed a co-operative society, Vänerbygdens Mat, together with 17 local food producers and our common point of sale is now the farm shop at Närebo [Gårdsbutiken på Närebo]. During 2004 we built new shop premises where you can now find a wide selection of products from Vänerbygdens Mat - locally produced food of high quality.

 

Adjoining the Farm Shop you will find the Närebo Pavilion [Lusthuset på Närebo], a conservatory where we serve dinners and lunches all year round to parties who make prior bookings. We also arrange special evenings, conserts, exhibitions and lectures. We can plan the menu and the arrangements in consultation with the customer. We can accomodate parties ranging from 20 guests to 100.
